When I was young, I would accompany my dad to the Farmers Alliance store on an almost weekly basis. We’d walk up to the counter and my father would ring a bell similar to the orange one we have today. A familiar gentleman would walk out and greet my dad by name. He always seemed genuinely glad to see us and he’d ask about my family and how our farm was doing. The salesperson sincerely wanted to know if the treatment he recommended to us a few weeks prior had fixed the problem with our cattle. If it wasn’t performing well, he’d grab a few of the other guys in the store and they would work together to solve our problem. I always had the sense that this man was honest, transparent and cared deeply about my family. He was there when we needed him. He wasn’t afraid to own up to a mistake and was willing to go the extra mile to make our family farm a success. This is what it means to be a Proclaimer.
